Daily Herald report

A veteran DuPage County prosecutor has been appointed judge in the 18th Judicial Circuit.

Alex McGimpsey was appointed by the circuit court to fill a vacancy created by the retirement of Associate Judge George Sotos, officials announced this week. McGimpsey has been an assistant state’s attorney in DuPage since 1992 and presently serves as deputy chief of the child abuse and juvenile domestic violence division.

Before that, he was an associate at the Chicago law firm of Winston and Strawn for three years. McGimpsey is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis. His installation date has not yet been scheduled.
