No sense opposing financial reform bill

How sad it is that with the unfortunate death of Sen. Robert Byrd, the passage of the president's financial reform legislation could actually now be in doubt.

It seems those on the "right side of the aisle" are so politically enamored with "being the opposition" (NO health care reform, NO financial reform, NO economic bailout, NO reigning in Big Oil, etc.), they refuse to cast their votes for the benefit of the very citizens who sent them to Washington in the first place.

No wonder they are being called "The Party of No."

Of all the legislation a senator or representative could responsibly oppose, financial reform would hardly seem to be in that category!

Legislation that better stabilizes the economy, reduces hidden fees, eliminates the "fine print" that victimizes consumers, cracks down on predatory lending practices and prevents taxpayers from ever having to rescue another "too big to fail" corporation, just makes good governmental common sense.

Hopefully, some members of the "Party of No" will wake up in time and recognize there are citizens out here who need a little POSITIVE action from our elected officials.

A "yes" vote or two from the right side of the aisle could do a lot of good and would be a refreshing change.
