Flu shots offered free to Cook County employees
Cook County is offering free flu shots to all county employees for the next few weeks.
Cook County officials, including Board President Toni Preckwinkle, kicked off the vaccination campaign Tuesday by getting flu shots.
All 22,000 county employees are eligible for the free shots through Dec. 22 by showing their government identification.
The flu shots are available at the county building in downtown Chicago, Oak Forest Health Center and the courthouses in Bridgeview, Rolling Meadows, Markham, Maywood and Skokie.
County officials say flu shots typically cost more than $30 retail.
Preckwinkle says officials are working to reduce the cost of employee sick time during what’s expected to be a difficult winter.
