Fox Valley family party rings in new year early

Submitted by Fox Valley Park District

Families and children can start their New Year’s Eve activities early with a Fox Valley Park District celebration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at the Vaughan Athletic Center, 2121 W. Indian Trail, Aurora.

The Family New Year’s Eve Party will ring in 2012 with a variety of festivities. Kids and adults can get energetic while climbing and bouncing on giant inflatables, playing interactive games, competing in hula hoop contests, viewing sports demos and dancing to the latest tunes with a live DJ.

“This event gives kids their own celebration,” said recreation supervisor Lisa Peterson. “They don’t have to stay up until midnight to enjoy a New Year’s party.”

In the countdown to 2012, party favors will be given to all guests, with a balloon drop at noon.

Preregistration by Friday, Dec. 30, is encouraged and includes party favors, admission to all activities and a snack. Advance tickets are $7 per person for ages 2 and older. Children younger than 2 are free. Day-of tickets are $9 per person, with party favors and snacks available while supplies last. For more information, call the Vaughan Athletic Center at (630) 907-9600.
