Palatine helping with Toys for Tots

The village of Palatine employees, Palatine and Inverness police departments, and the Palatine Fire Department, in conjunction with the United States Marine Corps Reserve, are teaming up for another “Toys for Tots” drive in Palatine.

“The annual Toys for Tots campaign is an opportunity for the entire village to provide assistance to needy families in Palatine and throughout the Northwest suburbs,” stated Palatine police Officer Wayne Sunderlin.

Last year, the Palatine community collected over 700 cubic feet of toys. To exceed last year’s totals, Palatine is proud to partner with Community Consolidated School District 15 schools, Marian Jordan, Lincoln, Hunting Ridge (PTA), Virginia Lake, Plum Grove Junior High, Sanborn, Sundling Junior High, Pleasant Hill, Lake Louise and Jane Addams Schools with their “Fill the Bus” campaign.

Everyone — residents, scout groups, churches, homeowner associations — who wish to donate new, unwrapped toys, can drop them off at the following locations: Palatine village hall, 200 E. Wood St.; Palatine Fire Station 85, 39 E. Colfax St.; Inverness village hall, 1400 W. Baldwin Road, Inverness; Inverness Police Department, 1415 Baldwin Road, Inverness; Inverness Park District, 300 Highland St., Inverness; American Legion Post 690, 122 W. Palatine Road; and Joe Caputo & Son’s Fruit Market, 2070 N. Rand Road.

Visit the Palatine’s council chambers on Monday, Dec. 12 to view all the donated toys on display and add to the collection your donated new, unwrapped toys, to fill the chambers.

The toys collected will be distributed to children in the Northwest metropolitan area by the U.S. Marine Corps, Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Visit www.toysfortots.org .
