Recall election set for Sheboygan mayor

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. — The Sheboygan Common Council has scheduled a recall election for Mayor Bob Ryan on Jan. 17.

The city clerk officially submitted nearly 4,500 confirmed signatures collected by recall organizers to the council Monday night. About 4,100 were needed to force a recall election.

Clerk Sue Richards says the date was selected because state law requires that the election be held six weeks after it’s ordered. The Sheboygan Press says the date could amount to a primary if no one gets more than 50 percent of the votes cast that day. Then the two top vote-getters would face off Feb. 14.
