Report: Woman who died in SUV plunge legally drunk
SUPERIOR, Wis. — A coroner’s report says a 24-year-old woman who died when her sport utility vehicle plunged into Lake Superior had a blood-alcohol content more than three times the legal limit.
Superior police say that according to the forensic pathologist, Ashley Ganyo had a blood-alcohol content of 0.249 percent. Wisconsin’s legal driving limit is 0.08 percent.
Ganyo was found seat-belted in the driver’s seat of an SUV off a boat landing on Dec. 4. A preliminary autopsy report found her drowned.
Ganyo had recently graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth and was still living in the Duluth area.
Additional toxicology results are expected to take a number of weeks.
