The Carpentersville community bid farewell to Police Chief Dave Neumann Thursday at a retirement ceremony organized by his fellow officers at village hall.
Neumann retires Friday after 26 years of service with the department. He spent the last six years as police chief. He came to Carpentersville as a patrol officer and ascended through the ranks to become a juvenile detective, a lieutenant and the department’s first deputy chief.
Earlier this month, the village hired a search firm to find Neumann’s replacement and hopes to have someone in place by the end of February.
