Kudos to ABC for ‘Made in America’

ABC Nightly News should be complimented for a regular segment called “Made in America.”

in one segment, the reporter, tipped off by a U.S. Senator, found the majority of gift items at one of the national monuments were made in China. The purchasing agent for that agency, not enjoying the spotlight of public scrutiny, subsequently found similar products “Made in the USA.”

In another segment, a university published a buyers guide for their students featuring products for a dorm room. The majority of those items also were imported.

With encouragement from students’ parents, the school now offers many “Made in America” products in that catalog.

Taking the ABC News lead, I would encourage my fellow citizens to write or call purchasing agents for our local schools, colleges, churches, hospitals, libraries, city and county governments and urge them to purchase “Made in America” products if at all possible.

Interestingly enough, many “Made in America” products are price competitive when shipping costs are considered.

Kudos to ABC News.
