Lake Villa Township transfers property for fire station

Lake Villa Township will transfer property from its West Campus on Route 59 to the Lake Villa Fire Protection District for the eventual construction of a fire station.

Township electors at a special meeting on Tuesday approved a measure declaring the southern portion of the campus property, which is south of Grand Avenue, as surplus and transferring it to the fire district.

Township Supervisor Dan Venturi said the transfer is being made because both entities encompass the same boundaries and serve the same taxpayers. The station will be built within five years, he said, and would serve residents on the west side of the township and fire district.
