Swollen rivers cause scattered S. Ind. flooding

BEDFORD, Ind. — Swollen rivers and streams have flooded many lowland areas across southern Indiana, leading to scattered road closures.

The National Weather Service has a flood warning in effect for portions of the East Fork White, Muscatatuck (muhs-KAT'-uh-tuhk), Wabash and White rivers and projects that river flooding will continue in southern Indiana through Saturday.

Officials say some state highways have been closed by high water in the Bedford, Spencer and Seymour areas.

Lawrence County Highway Superintendent David Holmes tells The Times-Mail of Bedford that some trees have fallen because of saturated soil and that he expects more flooded roads in the coming days.
