Politics is about respect
I just finished reading a book of Dr. Martin Luther King’s speeches, A Call to Conscience, and his words live today. From the speech delivered to the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Ga., on Aug. 16, 1967, he shared the powerful one-sentence foundation of Operation Breadbasket: “If you respect my dollar, you must respect my person.” I would suggest the 99 percenters and Occupy Wall Street heed this wisdom, and put their dollars and purchasing power in the direction of their supporters, and include in their occupation efforts, occupation of the ballot box.
