Pesticide notification registry now open

MADISON, Wis. — Homeowners and renters wishing to be notified when professional pesticide applications are going to be made in their neighborhood can now sign up online for a registry to get a heads up.

Previously, those wanting to join the registry were required to complete and mail in paperwork. Now registration will be through a website of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.

The site is http://datcpservices.wisconsin.gov/landreg/index.jsp.

The deadline to join the registry is Feb. 1.

Letters are also being sent to those currently on the registry telling them how to use the online system.

Notices about pesticide applications will begin being sent March 15. The notices can come via phone calls or notifications at the person’s address.

There are about 950 people currently on the registry.
