Kudos to Elgin's bison caretakers
The benevolent caretakers at Lords Park Zoo merit accolades for their compassionate treatment of Dakota, the 18-year-old bison that recently died. The reality that Dakota reached the age of 18 is a testament to the fact that wildlife in captivity can have a happy and stress-free existence.
Many people cared deeply about Dakota and his fellow bison and it's always encouraging to read a story about God's creatures being kindly safeguarded and appreciated by humane, human guardians.
