Notch babies have reason to complain

After World War II, the people who were in Washington, D.C., at the time remarked on how much money was in Social Security, and they didn’t know just what to do with all of it.

Well, it sure didn’t take them long to find out what to with it. A short time later they decided all the people born between 1917 and 1921 would be called notch babies, and they would get less Social Security than anyone else. Most of those people were involved in World War II. What a slap in the face for them.

It was said that the Social Security fund was put in the general fund and they have been picking at it every since. If it had been left in a fund by itself and not dished out to people who never paid into it, would it be in trouble all the time?

It doesn’t make a person feel very good to know when they have paid into Social Security all their working years and then get called a notch baby and will get less money when they retire than someone who never paid a penny into it.
