Driver charged in DUI crash that injured three
Three people were sent to a hospital after a drunken driving crash Sunday afternoon in Rolling Meadows, police said.
According to Sgt. John Freese, Noe Alvarez, 25, of the 4800 block of Weber Drive in Rolling Meadows, pulled out of a private drive and into the path of a westbound vehicle about 4:45 p.m. on the 2200 block of Algonquin Road.
The impact sent the westbound vehicle into the eastbound lanes, where it was struck by another vehicle. Three occupants of the eastbound vehicle were taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights with minor injuries, Freese said.
Alvarez was charged with aggravated DUI, a felony, and was also cited for driving without a valid license and failure to yield, Freese said. Alvarez's blood alcohol content was .0237, well above the intoxication threshold of .08, Freese said.
Alvarez has a bond hearing Monday morning at the Rolling Meadows courthouse.
