Beaten Chicago priest says he’s feeling better Priest who was beaten says he’s feeling better
An 80-year-old Chicago priest says he’s feeling better after he was attacked earlier this month during a break-in at his South Side church.
Earlier this month, the Rev. Daniel Mallette was attacked by two men inside the rectory of St. Margaret of Scotland Church.
Mallette is the pastor emeritus of the church. He was sleeping when the men broke into the rectory, demanded money and beat him. He suffered broken ribs and a swollen face.
The priest was handing out gifts to children Tuesday morning. He says it’s great to be back at the church. There have been no arrests in the beating and robbery. Authorities say robbers took $600.
Mallette has been at the parish since 1977.
