Milwaukee Admirals name new coach

MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Admirals have a new coach.

Ian Herbers was named after Kirk Muller was tapped to take over the Carolina Hurricanes. The last-place team fired coach Paul Maurice on Monday.

Herbers has spent the past two plus seasons as the team’s top assistant, where he was responsible for defensive players and the penalty kill unit.

He will continue those duties in addition to his head coaching duties.
