Drop off donations for the troops

LOMBARD, Illinois— Donations to support the troops are being collected at the Lombard Village Hall in conjunction with the Lombard VFW Lilac Post 5815, who will pay to send the items collected.

A wish list of items needed include a “top 10” list:

1. Peanut butter

2. Crackers

3. Canned fruit and canned pasta

4. Beef jerky/Slim Jims

5. Nuts in 20 ounce containers or less (no glass, please)

6. Coffee packets (like those from a hotel), hot chocolate or tea bags

7. Bag items

a. Dental bag items—dental floss, individual packets of toothbrushes, mouthwash, toothpaste or chap stick

b. Medical bag items—eye drops, saline, nasal spray, large band-aids, anti-itch cream, antibiotic ointment, antacid relief tablets, vitamins, over-the-counter allergy/cold/flu medicine, heat wraps, Q-tips (a large handful in a snack bag) or pain relievers, such as Tylenol or Advil

c. Shower bag items—shaving cream, deodorant, hand lotion, body wash (no bar soap, please)

d. Foot care bag items—men's white or black crew socks, foot powder, moleskin and/or blister pads, small flat package of unscented wipes (diaper bag size)

8. Unscented baby wipes/toilet paper

9. Pringles

10. Mints, spices in plastic jar or individual mayo packets

In addition to the collection for the troops, the Village continues its “Warm Hands, Warm Hearts” collection, benefitting the Lombard/Villa Park Food Pantry. This drive is requesting warm mittens, gloves, hats and scarves to warm the hands and non-perishable food items to warm the heart. All collection bins are in the front lobby of the Village Hall and will be available for drop-offs through December 31.
