Ramsey entering final season at Warren

Chuck Ramsey has made it official.

The 2011-12 boys basketball season will be the last for Warren's head coach, the school announced.

Ramsey is entering his 37th as a coach at Warren and 19th as head coach. Prior to becoming the head coach, he served as the sophomore head coach for 14 years, varsity assistant for three years and a volunteer in the program for one year.

During the past 18 years, Ramsey has a record of 377-138, which includes nine North Suburban Conference titles, 13 regional championships, six sectional titles and two second-place finishes at the state finals.

"I have enjoyed working with the kids here at Warren throughout the years and look forward to the challenges of the upcoming season," Ramsey said.

"Chuck has been a part of the one of the elite programs in Lake County for the past 37 years, and during his 18 years as our head coach he has taken our program to the next level by making us highly competitive program at the state level," Warren athletic director Mark Pos said. "I look forward to watching Chuck's last team here at Warren and hope it can be a successful end to a very remarkable career here at Warren."

Sometime toward the end of the season the athletic department will have night to recognize Ramsey and his accomplishments during his time at Warren.

Warren opens the season Wednesday against Lake Forest Academy at Waukegan.
