Columbus sends goalie to Express
The NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned goaltender Allen York to the Chicago Express, team officials announced Friday.
York, 22, has played in four games for Columbus this season. He compiled a 0-1-0 record, along with a .878 save percentage and 3.53 goals against average with the NHL club.
York started his first NHL game on Oct. 29 in Chicago against the Blackhawks. York made his NHL debut in a relief appearance against the Detroit Red Wings on Oct. 25.
The Wetaskiwin, Alberta, native has played two games with the Springfield Falcons this season, earning a 1-0-0 record, a 2.87 GAA, and a .907 save percentage. York played four games with Springfield at the end of last season, earning a shutout, a 2.04 GAA, and a .926 save percentage while posting a 3-1-0 record.
York completed a three-year career at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute of the NCAA last season, and the 6-foot-4, 170-pound netminder was a second team ECAC All-Star in 2010-11.
York is expected to start on Saturday when the Express battle the Cyclones in an ECHL contest at the Sears Centre Arena.
