Illegal parkers target of Soldier Field 'sting'
CHICAGO — The Illinois Secretary of State's office is looking for drivers who misuse disability parking placards.
Secretary of State's Police plan to be on the lookout for violators at this Sunday's Chicago Bears game. Police will watch for drivers who shouldn't have disability placards as well as drivers who illegally park in disability spaces outside Soldier Field.
Wrongly parking in a disability space carries a $250 fine. Drivers caught misusing disability placards are subject to a $500 fine and a suspension of their driver's license.
Secretary of State Jesse White says he's carrying out parking lot "stings" throughout the state to avoid abuse.
