Program collects treats for troops, their dogs

The students and staff at the Academy of Dog Grooming Arts in Arlington Heights are showing their gratitude to our military by participating in the Canine Shoebox Express, which ships care packages for troops and their canine companions in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The campaign was put together by Sharron Panther, director at the Academy of Dog Grooming Arts, in conjunction with the Inverness Women’s Club, who paid for the shipping of the 25 packages.

The packages included balls, brushes, combs, Frisbees, flea shampoos and products, blankets, toys, treats, food packages and other miscellaneous pet products.

The school is also planning a holiday campaign.

Contributions and donations can be made at the Academy of Dog Grooming Arts, 1742 W. Algonquin Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60005.
