Indianapolis school bus hits pole; minor injuries

INDIANAPOLIS — Authorities in Indianapolis say numerous students and a school bus driver have been sent to hospitals for evaluation after their bus hit a utility pole.

WISH-TV reports that all of the injuries in Wednesday morning’s crash are believed to be minor.

The Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services office says five people were taken from the scene by ambulance and 44 people were going to a hospital by another bus.

The crash on the city’s far east side involved a bus from the suburban Warren Township Schools.

City police Officer Anthony Schneider says the bus’ windshield was smashed.
