Donate to Elgin toy giveaway

During the past 20-plus years the Elgin Community Holiday Toy Giveaway, a community-sponsored event, has collected and distributed toys and gifts to qualified families in Elgin and South Elgin. Last year, more than 6,000 toys and gifts were distributed to 3,000 children from over 1,000 families.

New toys or monetary donations to purchase toys are needed. Monetary donations can be sent to the Community Crisis Center at P.O. Box 1390 Elgin, IL 60121-1390; designate “Toy Giveaway” in the memo field.

New toys can be dropped off at one of four locations: Grand Victoria Casino, Community Crisis Center, Elgin Township Office, or Reruns, Too Thrift Shop. This year's toy giveaway will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, at Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way in Elgin. Volunteers are also needed for set up on Dec. 14 and at the giveaway Dec. 15.
