Reports: SKorea parliament ratifies US trade deal
SEOUL, South Korea — Reports say South Korea’s National Assembly has ratified an ambitious free trade deal with the United States after ruling party lawmakers pushed their way into parliament to force a vote.
The Yonhap news agency and YTN television report that the deal passed 151-7 in a vote Tuesday.
Live footage on YTN television showed lawmakers from the ruling party convening an unscheduled session to ram the deal through, with opposition lawmakers shouting and shaking their fists.
