Des Plaines man pleads guilty to trying to kill 2 at children's birthday party
A Des Plaines man pleaded guilty Friday to trying to kill two people at a children's birthday party in McHenry County.
Miguel A. Hernandez-Solorzano, 33, pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery, according to a news release from the McHenry County state's attorney's office.
In early October 2017, Hernandez-Solorzano sent threatening text messages to one of the victims with whom he had been in a relationship, according to the state's attorney's office.
On Oct. 7, 2017, the victims were attending a child's birthday party at a relative's house on the 5200 block of Route 173 near Richmond. Hernandez-Solorzano was hiding behind a barn and then jumped out and attacked the victims, slashing them with a knife.
Other relatives subdued and restrained Hernandez-Solorzano.
He may be sentenced to six to 30 years in prison.
He is due to return to court Nov. 30.
