Women of Success host fundraiser in Round Lake to help family

The Women of Success of Lake County will host a fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 12, to help a struggling family from Niles.

Michelle Dillon, co-founder of Women of Success in Lake County, said the silent auction and fundraiser will honor John Wargo at Lake’s Bowl, 601 Railroad Ave., Round Lake.

The event will run from 2 to 6 p.m., and the cost is $10.

John Wargo nearly died in 2008 after contracting Necrotizing fasciitis, better known as the flesh-eating bacteria. Since suffering through multiple surgeries and other problems with the disease, he and his family have been left in financial ruin, millions of dollars in debt, and unable to pay their bills, Wargo said.

Dillon, who is friends with John’s wife Kathy, said the money raised through the event Saturday will go to offset the mounting medical bills and help gain the family some financial footing.
