Sears Centre now home to RMU Eagles
The Robert Morris University men’s basketball team will play their home games at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, starting with the season opener Nov. 9 against Trinity International University of Deerfield. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m.The RMU Eagles play in the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) and the CCAC (Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference).For more than a decade under Coach Al Bruehl, the men#146;s basketball team has reached the NAIA national tournament nine times since 2000. The Eagles have also won the CCAC Championship 11 times since 1998.Robert Morris University has 10 campuses in Illinois. Four of them #8212; Bensenville, Schaumburg, Elgin and Arlington Heights #8212; are in proximity to the Sears Centre, and the basketball team can draw students from any of them.RMU offers scholarships to residents of the respective communities, and recently more than 50 residents of Arlington Heights took advantage of tuition scholarships to begin an undergraduate program in business administration at that campus.A variety of scholarship opportunities are also available at the Elgin, Schaumburg and Bensenville campuses.Robert Morris University has had an interesting connection to Sears for over a decade: Since 1998, the University#146;s main campus has been at 401 S.
