Yelp to allow restaurant reservations through site

SAN FRANCISCO -- Social review site Yelp is letting its U.S.-based users make reservations at restaurants right on its site through an affiliation with OpenTable.

Yelp said Thursday that users who are logged in to their Yelp accounts can snag tables at local eateries by using an OpenTable pop-up that is linked to many of the business listings on Yelp's website. Users don't also need to be OpenTable members.

OpenTable Inc., which provides online restaurant reservations and guest-management services for restaurants, offers reservations at nearly 11,000 restaurants across the country.

Yelp hosts more than 11 million user-generated reviews in the U.S. and in countries such as France and Canada; 29 percent of these are restaurant reviews.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
