Season opener: at Deerfield, 7:30 p.m. Monday

Outlook: The Bears’ fate might rest with their eight. Coming off a second straight losing season, both of which ended in the regional, the Bears boast eight seniors. “We have a lot of depth,” coach Chris Bennett said. Among the seniors, 5-foot-11 all-conference guard/forward Dori Darras and 5-6 guard Maisie Cox have been on varsity since they were freshmen. Guards Katherine Anderson (honorable mention all-NSC) and Cathryn Spear have been up since their sophomore year. The Bears’ other seniors include shooter Stephanie Schmid, 5-11 forward Christina Sandstedt and guards Renee Wojcik and Gina Barbaglia. The Bears are hosting the inaugural Thanksgiving Turkey Thriller, which also includes Lakes, Fremd, Cary-Grove and Rolling Meadows.
