NATO apologizes for unintended Pakistan attacks
NATO has offered its deepest condolences and sympathy to the families of the Pakistani soldiers killed in a “regrettable incident” along the Afghan-Pakistani border, Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said.
“I have written to the Prime Minister of Pakistan to make it clear that the deaths of Pakistani personnel are as unacceptable and deplorable as the deaths of Afghan and international personnel,” Rasmussen said in an emailed statement today. “This was a tragic unintended incident.”
He said NATO remained committed to working with Pakistan “to improve cooperation to avoid such tragedies in the future.”
