Kudos to South Elgin High crew

I wanted to express thanks for how the staff at South Elgin High School handled the recent lockdown.

I had the rare opportunity to experience the lockdown on the inside. I was bringing my son money for lunch, and was in the office when the principal had to handle the lockdown.

I want to commend the entire school staff on how quickly, efficiently and calmly they had all the kids safe and quiet for the hour or so we were waiting for the all clear.

Special kudos to two people I saw firsthand in the office leading, coordinating and communicating during the lockdown: Principal Melanie Meidel and Lisa Olsen. All parents of students at South Elgin High School need to know how wonderfully the staff handled the situation, along with the Elgin and South Elgin police who were there. Thank you for all you do to keep our kids safe.
