Bloomington man gets 100 years for sex assault
BLOOMINGTON — A judge in central Illinois has handed down a 100-year prison sentence for a Bloomington man convicted of sexually assaulting a McLean County woman in April.
Authorities say 52-year-old Gerald Kain was convicted in September of five counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault. Authorities say he also has a history of sexually abuse in Henry and Rock Island counties.
Assistant State’s Attorney Jane Foster called Kain a lifelong predator in asking for the maximum sentence of 150 years Monday.
Judge Robert Freitag sentenced Kain, saying it was necessary to protect society by keeping Kain in prison for the rest of his life.
Kain didn’t make a statement at the sentencing hearing.
