Band finished their season on a high note

Submitted by Denise Kindle

The Grayslake North Marching Knights finished their competitive season this year at the Renegade Regiment MusicFest Marching Competition in Sandwich. The Knights had an outstanding performance that earned them first place honors in both Class AA Parade Competition and Class AA Field Show Competition.

This is the third year that the Marching Knights have swept the competition in their class. In addition, for the first time, the Marching Knights were awarded the “Best Musical Performance Award” and “Grand Champions” of the entire Festival.

In 2009, the Knights competed in Class B with a band size of 62 members. In 2010, the Knights expanded to 92 members and moved up to Class A. In 2011, the Knights expanded once again competing with 120 members in Class AA. This season’s victory is a great accomplishment for a band with such dramatic growth.

The Marching Knights are led by Drum Majors Eric Delgado, Savannah Robinson and Ray Singleton and are under the direction of Candace Edstrand, Laura Bertermann, Michelle Ruotolo and Dan Bertermann.
