Six from St. Mary Troop 140 earn Eagle Scout rank

Six members of Boy Scout Troop 140 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Buffalo Grove will earn the rank of Eagle Scout on Sunday, Nov. 27. Eagle Scout is the highest rank in the Boy Scouts.

The six are: Joseph Salvesen, Nicholas Sorgani and Nicholas DesJarlais of Buffalo Grove; Austin Peters of Deerfield; and Maxwell Liebl and Michael Powers of Long Grove.

The scouts have worked many years volunteering their time to community service while advancing in leadership and life skills and achieving outdoor training, emergency preparedness, and skill competency.

Only 4 percent of Boy Scouts nationwide earn the esteem rank of Eagle Scout. Each scout must earn a minimum of 21 Merit Badges, successfully plan and execute a service project for a non-profit organization, hold different leadership positions within the troop, and pass an Eagle Board of Review.
