Western Illinois to hold Civil War book readings

MACOMB, Ill. — Western Illinois University will commemorate the Civil War with a series of monthly discussions.

The university says it will hold a talk on Abraham Lincoln’s historic Gettysburg Address on Nov. 17 at the Western Illinois Museum in Macomb. The first of five monthly book readings starts in December with a discussion of Geraldine Brooks’ “March.”

The readings will continue through April.

The book readings will take place at the Leslie F. Malpass Library on Western Illinois’ campus.
