Scouting Lisle boys basketball
Lisle
Coach: Mark LaScala.
Last year: 10-20, 3-8, tied for ninth in the Interstate Eight Conference; lost 76-47 to Aurora Christian in the Class 2A Lisle regional final.
Top players: Dawon Burrell, jr., F; Jeremy Glavanovits, so., F; Kazim Khan, sr., G-F; Nick Saul, jr., F; Pat Webb, sr., G.
Scouting report: Graduating six of its top eight players, gone are the twin posts, Chris Wray and Phil Palicka. Instead Lisle offers high energy and athleticism that paired with good work ethic could translate into stingy defense. Khan, the goalkeeper from a 2010 soccer state champ and 2011 runner-up, is the top scoring option as of now, returning 8.7 points a game. Identifying other point producers is a work in progress, but that may reflect the Lions' defensive strength. Burrell and two 6-foot-4 players, Saul and Glavanovits, are possible scorers. A strong Lisle Thanksgiving tourney lends immediate challenges to an inexperienced team LaScala sees as middle of the pack in conference. "I think if we make continued improvement from now to Christmas we'll be pretty tough," he said.
