Zambia mines minister summons Munali nickel managers on closure

Zambian Mines Minister Wilbur Simuusa has summoned the management of the Munali nickel mine after it was temporarily closed.

“The closure for whatever reason was premature,” Simuusa said in an interview from Lusaka, the Zambian capital, today. “I was not informed about it and have summoned management to give me a full brief today so that we can see a positive way forward. They are at my office as we speak.”

Albidon Ltd., which operates the mine, said earlier today said it halted Munali because of “cash flow difficulties.”
