Ind. man arrested on porn charges dies in jail

INDIANAPOLIS — Authorities say a convicted child molester from Muncie arrested on federal child pornography charges committed suicide in the Marion County Jail.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement that 51-year-old Anthony W. Humphrey was found hanging by a bed sheet in his cell about 4 a.m. Monday. His death is being investigated by city, county and federal authorities.

The Star Press of Muncie reports Humphrey was housed alone in a single-inmate cell.

Humphrey was arrested last week on federal charges after police and FBI agents raided his Muncie apartment and allegedly found child pornography.

Humphrey was sentenced to 15 years in prison in 2003 after he was convicted of sexually abusing an 8-year-old Delaware County boy.
