Wisconsin fighter jet crash attributed to engine failure

MADISON, Wis. — U.S. Air Force investigators have attributed last summer’s jet fighter crash in central Wisconsin to engine failure.

The Air Combat Command Accident Investigation Board released a statement Tuesday saying the F-16C Falcon was flying combat exercises on June 7 when the pilot experienced a “sudden loss of thrust” and cockpit readings indicated engine failure.

WISC-TV reports investigators say the pilot tried to restart the plane in midair but failed. He ejected safely before the plane crashed into an empty vacation home in the Adams County town of New Chester.
