Driver cited for causing six-car crash in Elgin
Elgin police cited the driver of a 2002 Ford Taurus for causing a six-car accident on Randall Road Saturday evening, according to police.
Police Department spokeswoman Sue Olafson said David G. House, 45, of the 1700 block of Farmside Drive in Carpentersville, got a ticket for improper lane usage following the crash.
House was driving on Randall Road near South Street in Elgin when he became distracted and swerved into another lane, Olafson said.
“He hit a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe which caused a chain reaction involving four other cars,” Olafson said in a news release.
Eleven people, including House, suffered minor injuries from the crash.
Randall Road was closed for about an hour from South Street to College Green as police and fire officials cleared the scene.
