Buffalo Grove man charged with DUI
Robert Steffens, 46, is currently on supervision for a 2010 DUI, said Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Lesley Gool at Steffens’ bond hearing Monday in Rolling Meadows.
Police stopped Steffens, of the 400 block of Lauren Lane, for traffic violations as he drove on Dundee Road Saturday. A search of the defendant revealed the pills in his sock, Gool said.
Steffens’ background includes convictions for retail theft in 2005 and 1998, for which he was sentenced to three years in prison each time, Gool said. He was sentenced to 24 months probation for possession of a controlled substance in 2004. That same year he was sentenced to 24 months conditional discharge for retail theft, Gool said. Steffens was sentenced to six years in prison in 1989 for the manufacture and delivery of cocaine and he was sentenced to another six years in prison for a 1994 robbery conviction, Gool said. Additionally, he was sentenced to six months supervision for a 2000 conviction on attempted possession of a controlled substance.
He next appears in court on Nov. 28.
