Judson No. 2 seed in CCAC tourney
The 16th-ranked Judson University women’s soccer team won its first regular-season championship in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 4-1 win over Illinois Tech this past Saturday.
Judson finished the regular season at 15-2-1 and 9-1 in the CCAC. Angela Bianchi had 3 goals in the win while Jenna Steffensen had the first goal of the match.
Steffensen was also named the NAIA National Player of the Week for her play against then No. 16 Trinity Christian and Holy Cross. She had 2 goals and an assist vs. Trinity Christian in the 3-1 win in a NAIA Top 25 matchup.
Judson fell to No. 11 Olivet Nazarene University earlier in the week, 1-0, as the Eagles’ 15-match unbeaten streak came to an end.
Judson will be the No. 2 seed in the upcoming CCAC Tournament.
Men’s soccer: Judson dropped both of its CCAC matches on the week to Olivet Nazarene, 5-2, and Illinois Tech, 2-1. Mike Tobie had 2 goals in the loss to Olivet Nazarene and Carey Bienert produced the lone goal against Illinois Tech. Judson finishes the regular season at 11-7 and 7-3 in the CCAC and will be the No. 4 seed in the CCAC Tournament.
Volleyball: In its final home match of the year, Judson took Illinois Tech five sets but fell, 3-2. Carissa Oelke and Kirsten Kohlstedt each had a double-double on the night. Oelke had 22 kills and 11 digs for her 15th double-double of the year and Kohlstedt had 29 assists and 10 digs. Judson fell to Robert Morris, 3-0, in the other match of the week.
Cross country: In the final tune up of competition before the CCAC championships on NovemSaturday, Judson University ran in the NAIA Great Lakes Regional Meet that featured several top 25 NAIA programs. The women’s team finished 14th of 33 teams while the men were 20th of 30 teams. Sarah Miller and Gabby Nystrom finished 44th and 45th out of 300 runners while Nate Nevius was 68th.
