Aurora Library launching food for fines campaign
The Aurora Public Library will conduct a “Food for Fines” drive Nov. 1 to 30.
All library locations in the city will accept one item of nonperishable food in payment for every $1, or increment of $1, up to $10 in fines per person. Only nonperishable items with containers that are not damaged, expired or rusty will be accepted.
The drive will be conducted at the main library, 1 E. Benton St., as well as the Eola Road Branch, 555 S. Eola Road, and West Branch, 233 S. Constitution Drive. It also will be available at all Bookmobile stops.
Last November, library patrons donated 9,790 items and the amount of fines waived was $8,805.43.
All food collected will be donated to the Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry. For details, call the library at (630) 264-4100.
