Fort Wayne allows protesters to remain in park
FORT WAYNE, Ind. — City officials have decided to allow Occupy Fort Wayne protesters to remain in a downtown park for at least a few more days.
Officials with the police department and Headwaters Park told the protesters Monday they could remain for at least a few more days as long as they remain peaceful and follow park rules. The Journal Gazette reports that city officials at first told the demonstrators they wanted them out of the park by 11 p.m. Sunday.
About 250 protesters showed up at a rally and march on Saturday. About a dozen or so protesters were at the park on Monday.
Twenty-seven-year-old Kasey Griffith says she is protesting that corporations exert too much influence over lawmakers.
