Hansbrough, Notre Dame crush Chicago State 102-62
SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Ben Hansbrough scored 22 points and Tim Abromaitis added 21 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists to lead Notre Dame to an easy 102-62 victory over Chicago State on Wednesday night.
All five Irish starters scored in double figures. Tyrone Nash also flirted with a triple-double for Notre Dame (3-0) with 11 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists, and Carleton Scott chipped in 17 points. The Irish dominated the boards 59-28 and held Chicago State (1-2) to 34 percent shooting.
The Cougars were led by Christian Wall, Carl Montgomery and Hajji Martin, who each scored 14 points.
Notre Dame was just 2-for-10 from 3-point range to start the game before Hansbrough's 3 with 6:39 left in the first half. That was part of a 22-2 Irish run that turned a tie game into a 20-point Notre Dame lead.
