• A man was killed in a motorcycle accident in Crystal Lake late Sunday night at the corner of routes 14 and 31. Police are still investigating and have not released the name of the motorcyclist.
• Police are investigating how a three-year-old from Prospect Heights fell from a second story window from an apartment on Piper Lane. Condition of the child and details of the fall have not been released by police.
Police working 'good leads' in 5-year-old boy's death
Elgin Police have not arrested anyone in connection to the weekend shooting death of a 5-year-old boy, but say they are “moving forward with some good leads.” Eric M. Galarza Jr. was shot in the head Friday night from gunfire directed at a vehicle he was in with his family. Firefighter collapses, dies while running Chicago Marathon
An autopsy is scheduled for today on a North Carolina firefighter who collapsed during the final stretch of the Chicago Marathon yesterday and died shortly after. William Caviness was running to raise money for a burn victim's foundation, and had received nearly $2,500 in donations. Elgin high schools competing in anti-texting-while-driving campaign
Six Elgin Area Dist. U-46 high schools are competing for prizes such as grants for after school programs in a contest to see who can get the most students, parents and alumni to pledge not to text and drive. The contact, which is sponsored by ATT, is part of a national campaign targeting high school students who text while driving. Vernon Hills police investigating 15-year-old girl's 'suspicious' death
Vernon Hills police are expected to release more information today regarding the #8220;suspicious#8221; death of a 15-year-old girl, which occurred over the weekend. Police are working with the Lake County coroner in their investigation, and an autopsy today could help determine the girl's cause of death. Cardinal Francis George visits Wheeling church

Naperville motorcyclist killed in weekend crash
A 58-year-old Naperville man was killed over the weekend when a truck crossed the center median on Route 59 near Joseph Street and struck his motorcycle. George Weikum was riding his 2010 Harley Davidson on Route 59 near Joseph Street Saturday afternoon when the crash occurred. The driver of the truck was injured in the crash, but it is not clear if he will face charges. Kenyan sets Chicago Marathon record
In what were described as less than ideal marathon conditions, Kenyan Moses Mosop rose to the occasion and set a Chicago Marathon course records in 2:05:37 yesterday. It was only Mosop's second career marathon, but he took home $150,000 for his record-setting performance. #8220;I am very happy about my job today,#8221; Mosop said. #8220;I was only about 85 percent. Lane blockages are continuing on Route 59 and US. Route 20 in Bartlett due to construction, while most of the highways are doing well this morning. But, again, traffic is expected to be light due to Columbus Day. Full traffic.
