Members of Ind. Guard unit returning from Iraq

BEDFORD, Ind. — Members of a National Guard unit based in southern Indiana have started returning home after a deployment to Iraq.

About 130 soldiers from the Bedford-based 2219th Brigade Support Co. began their deployment in March, providing logistics and maintenance support.

Indiana National Guard Col. Ivan Denton tells The Times-Mail that about one-third of the unit’s soldiers are returning this month, with the rest scheduled to return by early December.

Twenty-two-year-old Brent Webster of Mitchell was among about 15 soldiers who returned this week and were able to have brief reunions with their families at Indianapolis International Airport.

Webster says his first deployment was a good experience and that he feels he accomplished something.
