Minor injuries when train hits pickup in Pingree Grove
One person was taken to a hospital with minor injuries after the pickup truck he was driving was struck by a train in Pingree Grove Friday afternoon.
Pingree Grove Police Chief Carol Lussky said the crash happened about 12:30 p.m. at a railroad crossing near routes 47 and 72, just east of Route 20. The rural crossing is not gated, Lussky said.
Kane County Sherrif's Department spokesman said a Canadian Pacific Railroad freight train was involved.
The driver of the pickup was taken to a hospital with non-lifethreatening injuries, Lussky said.
